Is mobile technology enabled for use by our disabled citizens here in the U.S.? That question is sure to bring about a litany of debate, but the National Council on Disability (NCD) has released a policy paper that explores key trends in information and communication technology -- and it highlights the potential opportunities and problems these trends present for people with disabilities. The deliverable here? The paper also suggests some strategies to maximize opportunities and avoid potential problems and barriers that the disabled market faces and how to market to that customer segment correctly -- something that I rarely see in the wireless business. Are wireless phones ever marketed with "hearing aid compatible" as an advertising feature? Never.
