Mobile navigation seems to be a hot ticket these days in the mobile arena, with TomTom bringing out devices all the time and carriers like Verizon and Sprint Nextel adding pieces of a mobile navigation to their offerings as well.CDMA carrier Alltel Wireless has entered the fray by launching the TeleNav GPS Navigator service on select mobile handsets. The TeleNav GPS Navigator is a mapping service designed to give customers a three-dimensional view of moving maps, voice and on-screen directions.
Now, that sounds like a pretty handy service to many of us, and to make it sweeter, Alltel will also offer information and directions to more than 10 million business listings -- including gas prices and Wi-Fi hot spots. What is really cool here is that customers who need directions while on foot can switch to pedestrian mode for use while walking. The future is turning out pretty cool.
