LG's model VX8300 from Verizon Wireless has surpassed the Motorola RAZR as the nation's most popular wireless handset according to M:Metrics. The LG clamshell, which is a basic entry-level model with some nice perks, sells for $50 with a 2-year contract and I believe is only available from Verizon (maybe Alltel?).Cingular's silver Motorola RAZR fell to second place, and the RAZR did not beat the LG VX8300 at Verizon Wireless either recently. Although the VX8300 does have Bluetooth, camera and Verizon's VCAST ability, it is a standard-looking handset without any standout design features.
After two years, are sales of the RAZR finally starting to slow a bit?

1. I think it's a smart-looking phone. It's fairly thin and fairly attractive and fairly cheap and does a fair amount of stuff. The RAZR has been out for *two* years now in various incarnations, and people are tiring of it. It's about time something succeeded it; I expect something to replace the VX8300 very soon, though, as the must-have handset. Too bad for Moto that the KRZR ain't it.
