Are you one of those many folks out there who have what is considered as a "low-cost" cellphone and you feel you're missing out on all the fun that all the smartphone people are having? You know, stuff like e-mail and instant messaging? Well, it looks like your ship may have just come in. A start-up originating from Europe is about to hit our shores with what the company says is a more economical alterantive to the BlackBerry e-mail service.
Berggi Inc. says it will offer messaging services to basic mobile phones that will allow users to send and receive e-mail from Yahoo, MSN, or Google, along with a number of IM platforms. The one catch is that these e-mails will be text only, no attachments. If you're interested, you can get more information from the company's website at www.berggi.com. Service will run you $9.99 a month.
This should be interesting--will people who own "low-cost" cellphones take the plunge and sign up for this service, or would they rather make the investment in a more feature-packed handset? Guess we'll find out soon enough...
