Hey NYC subway straphangers! Remember way back in the beginning of this year when the Metropolitan Transport Authority (MTA) accepted bids from cellular providers in the interest of establishing service in the city's 277 underground subway stations?
Well, the bids were accepted back in January, and to date, nothing has happened. The MTA hasn't said anything, and it seems that the process has come to a grinding halt.
According to MTA officials, establishing this kind of system is "complex" and would be very expensive to implement, so they are being very deliberate in how they approach this project, which would allow for service in stations but not into subway tunnels.

1. This is bulls--t. A network can be implemented in the NYC subway system. It would be expensive due to contract labor as well as infrastructure costs. But it not impossible.
