I like the approach that the state of Washington's Pierce County Rainier Communications Commission (RCC) is taking in terms of determining the needs of its residents when it comes to wireless internet access.
They have put together an extensive (40 questions) survey that aims to gauge the needs of respondents with regard to wireless broadband service. The RCC mailed the survey to about 15,000 randomly selected households, and is making it available online.
I glanced at the survey and it certainly serves the purpose of getting as much information as possible from respondents. As someone who has produced online surveys many times before, 40 questions is a lot, but if you really want to have input in your area's wireless network, you have to take the opportunity to fill it out. Otherwise, you can't complain about it later on.

1. 40 questions?! What can they ask?!
