With Google just recently announcing that it would be selling advertising spots on its mobile platform from the AdWords program (www.google.com/xhtml), competitor Yahoo! has announced that it too will now be selling advertising on its mobile portal (wap.yahoo.com) for cellphones and other mobile devices. This comes after a few years of mobile advertising experience in markets like Japan, where Yahoo! has had mobile ads for quite some time. Japan's wireless market is quite a bit more advanced as the culture there accesses the Internet mostly over high-speed wireless phones instead of PCs.
Now, U.S. customers can enjoy targeted ads when visiting Yahoo! services on their handsets. I just hope the ads are as unobtrusive as possible on that small 2" screen (if you're lucky).

1. For glad I don't live in Japan to feel "advantages" of mobile advertisements
