The blend of wireless and VoIP technologies continues with an alliance announced between Alarm.com, providers of wireless, Web-enabled interactive security and monitoring system technology, and VoIP provider SunRocket.
According to SunRocket, customers who are considering purchasing an alarm system for their homes can get special deals courtesy of Alarm.com, whose system allows for monitoring and controlling of security systems through the Web and doesn't require a phone line to send signals to the central monitoring station. In addition, real-time text messages and e-mail alerts can be sent to a user's cellphone or, in this instance, a SunRocket VoIP-enabled phone.
By looking at this, what don't you see? That's right, traditional wireline phone services are left out of the equation. We're going to see more of these alliances where wireless technology will be the lead application/platform.
