Many of us have used WAP for years (I have), but still don't consider it a full "Mobile Internet". The experience, until recently, was suboptimal and the navigation cluttered and goofy. WAP decks from the major U.S. carriers have gotten better, but mobile Internet on the handset is still rudimentary, even in 2006.A few things are changing that, though. I use Opera Mini all the time and it works fantastically over both EDGE and EV-DO networks in terms of speed. This has been the first time that the mobile Internet really seemed like what it was always meant to be. With 3G data networks finally here, perhaps the mobile Internet can now be here also.

1. I think once carriers improve the experience and solve the network and handset penetration issues, the services will become a lot more appealing to consumers.
