The trend of ditching landline phones for cellphones continues to grow
The idea of getting rid of your old-fashioned phone line and going all-cellular is not just a passing fancy anymore.
It seems that more people in the U.S. are turning to their cellphones as their primary means of communication and in the process cutting the cord on their landline phones.
According to this story, states like Michigan and Ohio are seeing many more people turning to cellphones. Check out these numbers: Michigan had 3.5 million wireless users and 6.5 million landlines in 1999. In 2005, the numbers have changed to 6.6 million wireless and 5.7 million landlines. Ohio had 3.2 million wireless and 7.2 million landlines in 1999, and in 2005 the state boasts 7.6 million cell numbers and 6.5 million landlines.
Most experts say that because of better technology and (of course) price, consumers are seeing the value in carrying their primary means of communication with them at all times.
Let's not forget that with the advent of enhanced handsets, not only can you make and receive calls, you can surf the Web, download music, watch video, and so on. Try doing that on your cordless kitchen phone!
