SMS is being used in the UK by St. Helier's University Hospitals to remind patients of impending appointments in an effort to drastically reduce the
missed appointments and lost productivity that entire situation causes.
The SMS will be sent to the patient about a week before the appointment, and it will contain a phone number for questions and for appointment date and time changes should the need arise.
