Burger King mobile website launches

In what appears to be an odd twist of a new marketing idea, #2 burger chain Burger King has launched www.bk.com, a mobile-formatted website that will let customers access nutritional information as well as find a local Burger King store in their area. Just don't look at the nutrition facts of a Whopper, ok?

While Burger King said that 70% of U.S. wireless users have devices capable of accessing the mobile web, that does not mean those customers are using the mobile web at all. In fact, I find it incredibly hard to believe that more than 20% are using the mobile web today, regardless of having the capability. The content can be scarce, the navigation funky and the speeds slow -- unless you have HSDPA or EV-DO.
