MobiTV backs WiMAX

MobiTV, the mobile television provider behind such offerings as Verizon's V CAST, Sprint Nextel's Sprint TV and Cingular's Cingular Video, has thrown its support behind WiMAX on the heels of Sprint's large announcement this week that the carrier will deploy WiMAX as its 4G communications solution in the next 24 months.

This could potentially change things quite a bit -- perhaps you'll buy your television channel package from Verizon and MobiTV in the future instead of your local cable company or satellite provider? With WiMAX having data speeds that will only increase and with a major nationwide commitment now announced, you never know. Things are blurring heavily in the delivery and content areas these days.
