LG Electronics, one of the top-5 handset makers in the world, and SK Telecom, are looking at using the VibeTonz system from Immersion to make handsets more intuitive to use using haptics technology. I'm not sure how this is different from some of the haptics offerings already in some phones, but if it's integrated with the menu systems of these handsets, that would be rather interesting.Immersion's VibeTonz system incorporates vibrating pulses and beats are varying levels depending on what the handset user is doing at any given moment, which is supposed to increase the intuitiveness and usability of the wireless handset and many functions as well.

I read your article and I understand your statement "I'm not sure how this is different from some of the haptics offerings already in some phones". Until you experience VibeTonz you don't really know how different this is. Where are you located, I can visit if you are local or mail you a handset and let you feel it yourself.
