Samsung pinning hopes on 3.5G and mobile TV

Samsung seems to be at the crux of an explosion in advanced wireless handset hardware. It's been quite a while since we've seen a manufacturer go all-out like Samsung to product handset devices that encompass almost every wireless technology and every data technology like this. From HSDPA to Windows Mobile 5 to low-end handsets to slim EV-DO phones, Samsung has it covered.

In this respect, Samsung is looking more like Sony Ericsson, which chose to concentrate on mid-range and high-end handsets years ago -- which are more profitable. Sure, both manufacturers will always have a low-end offering to placate carriers who demand this, but high-end stuff is where Samsung's focus is -- and will stay there.
