We all know about VoIP -- that new-fangled technology that makes it easy to make voice calls over the internet from anywhere you have a broadband connection (at home, work, at the coffee shop, etc.). Vonage has even made a solid business model from this concept and they are expanding globally. What about wireless VoIP? Will wireless devices have the horsepower and, more importantly, good battery life to make a go of it? Enter Boingo, owner of quite a few WiFi hotspots here in the U.S. and overseas as well. Boingo wants it to be much easier for you to connect your WiFi-enabled cellphone to a local hotspot without the nightmare configuration now required (I've tried this on a T-Mobile SDA and things were indeed dicey).
With voice over Wi-Fi set to surpass Wi-Fi data in three years -- according to In-stat -- this level of pain needs to subside and a solution must be proffered. We have no doubt Boingo will be instrumental.
