many, many things, our pals over at Engadget Mobile have posted an exhaustive look at a rather
dubious claim by Alltel, who says they have the nation's largest
network. Alrighty then, how did they measure that and what are the disclaimers (in tiny text, no doubt). The hard thing when comparing carriers is coverage. Then, split your coverage into post-paid and pre-paid areas. Then, splrit your coverage into native coverage, affiliate coverage and roaming coverage -- all with possibly different swaths of non-voice offerings like high-speed data -- no wonder customers are constantly confused. Since there is no apples-to-apples when it comes to coverage -- everyone having native coverage and unintelligibly color-coded roaming coverage -- this feature looked hard at some of these areas.
