FCC wireless spectrum auctions being scrutinized even further

We've written about this before, and it seems that the FCC is uber-serious in ensuring the big wireless companies don't sit down and have a pow-wow with smaller companies in order to gain under-priced access to bidding on upcoming wireless spectrum auctions.

The rules include that smaller bidders won't get bid credit if they plan to sublease more than 50 percent of the spectrum they may win to another party, and the newer strict rules also have stipulations about transferring spectrum to another party within a five-year window from winning the bid. Nice rules here -- we'll see how this curbs auction abuses. Maybe the FCC should take a hand from eBay and just use "Buy It Now" (that last part was a joke).
