Nokia announced yesterday that it has sold over 5 million N-series multimedia phones since 2005 -- all the
while launching more N-series units to the world as was speculated this past Monday. Nokia also said that its N70
high-end 3G dual-cameraphone made up 10% of the entire 3G phone market during the first quarter of 2006 -- no small
achievement. Although, the total market for upscale 3G phones, while expected to grow nicely for the next few years, is still pretty small at this point compared to sales if standard GSM phones worldwide. Nokia is trying to make up for lost ground due to several design and launch missteps (thin phones and flip-style phones) in recent years, and its rather brash entry into the higher-end space may be the strategy that gets it back for them. Nokia is, however, still (by far) the world's largest handset manufacturer.

1. Nokia's mobile phone is very popular all over the world. In our country the multimedia phone is very popular too.
