Motorola buys wireless broadband company Orthogon Systems

Motorola, looking to reach its lofty goals with increasing its presence in the OFDM market -- among others -- has announced it will acquire Orthogon Systems for an undisclosed amount. This gives Motorola, an investor already in Orthogon, the capability to really enhance their WiMAX product offerings in the near future.

One of Orthogon's most tasty recent product rollouts was its OS-Spectra product, a point-to-point Ethernet bridge meant to connect networks separated by up to 125 miles with a 300Mbps connection. Holy cow. There are some neat wireless broadband offerings that may soon start to heavily compete with established broadband connections like cable and DSL. The more, the merrier (for the customer, that is).
