Round 1: RIM Scores One Victory over NTP, 4 Rounds To Go

With the RIM vs. NTP pending injuction decision just a stone's throw away tomorrow, it looks like the U.S. Patent and Trade Office (uspto.gov) issued a "final" rejection on one of NTP's claimed patent infringements Wednesday. Unlike a "non-final" rejection, this rejection should now be put to bed as something NTP can no longer fight with RIM. It's unclear which of the five specific infringements this one was, but we will know soon enough tomorrow on February 24th.

So, Research in Motion may not need to use their "workaround" after all to keep Crackberry addicts glued to their cell-emailers. Or they may need to. We will all know tomorrow. What do you think? Which way will the pendulum swing in this injuction case?
